CULTURAL RE-GENERATION

Centre for cultural activities signed a grant contract for the Cultural re-generation project on 3rd of February 2021. The project is co-financed by EU funds from the European Social Fund and the Ministry of Culture and Media. The project is implemented in partnership with an Open media group.

The idea of the Cultural re-generation project is to encourage older people to use different communication platforms through the use of cultural content.

The project aims to motivate the elderly to get acquainted with various forms of the digital world so they can apply newly acquired skills for purposes other than communication. With this we want to reduce social isolation and encourage better integration of 54 + people into the present world.

“Cultural re-generation” will consist of a series of activities organised in cycles and intended for generation 54 +:

  • “Shared reading” is a literary club that will encourage reading, discussion and communication – joint socializing. Once a month, the members will meet at Zoom and discuss a book that everyone has read under the leadership of a established writer
  • “I remember and write” is a creative writing program for documenting memories. Workshops will be held in a cycle of 6 webinars over three months in which users will acquire writing skills
  • “I dance, so I live” is a contemporary dance course adjusted to the age of the target group and will last for three months, once a week
  • “Black and White in colours” is a programme of visual creativity for those who want to draw and paint pastels and will last three months, twice a month.

Apart from the literary club, all activities will be repeated in two cycles. All activities will be accompanied by readable and understandable guides to make it easier for 54 + people to apply new technologies. If opportunities are allowed and participants demonstrate their need, we will cooperate with local libraries and ask them to provide the necessary technical support and equipment. Through activities we intend to include 100 people over 54 years of age.

OBJECTIVES AND RESULTS OF THE PROJECT

By implementing and participating in project activities, creative skills related to art are developed, because during workshops the artistic works are analysed, the principles of good creative writing are adopted, how to dance and draw in interaction with leaders and other participants are taught. In this way, the users remain mentally agile and the dance contributes to good physical condition. Participants meet their cultural needs, acquire new digital and creative skills and socialise with other participants from all over Croatia.
